Plastic Eaters were formed in Philadelphia
in early 1996, as a creative venture between Stan Stammers and Rob Daly.
Stammers was formerly bass player with UK bands Theatre of Hate and later
Spear of Destiny and Daly maybe remembered from Philly band Five Magic
Beans.
After nearly 7 years in the States, Stan found an accomplice for his new musical
endeavors in the digital visionary and vocalist Rob Daly. Originally Stan approached
Daly to program drums for the songs he had been writing, which were based around
various samples. Experienced, and adept at music technology, Daly had done studio
work with numerous Philly musicians, as well as several internationally known
artists and groups. And where Stan spent his youth in the London punk scene,
Daly spent his formative years involved in the East Coast hardcore scene.
Plastic Eaters' Self-Titled EP is a blend of samples, loops, and breakbeats,
with punk guitars and vocals.
Jungle Punk-The future of rock n' roll (or maybe
not).

PHILADELPHIA CITYPAPER
Plastic Eaters (Wasabi)
Former Spear of Destiny punk Stan Stammers and former funky Five Magic
Beaner Rob Daly make up Philly's industrial strength Plastic Eaters.
With their first EP, the band barrels along with the power of thrash-trash
all dolled up for laughs. Daly and Stammers giddily mingle the heavy
sounds of Steve Crudello's guitar crunch with some truly inventive synth
and programmed sequences. The result is a hybrid of metal and mood — a
cross between Porno For Pyros, Aphex Twin and recent tracks from Moby.
Sneering and snarling, the Plastic duo speed through the songs "Passed" and "Falling" with
epic haste and nursery-rhyme hilarity, recalling Stammer's previous work
with the British pre-industrial Spear. As "Stars In My Sky" allows
(I think) girl vocalist Aublelena to woo 'n' coo the devastating electronic
whirr into a nestled lullaby, we hear an Eater that isn't always starving.
With "Somewhere, Something," a mid-tempo thumper reminiscent
(huh) of Jesus Jones, the duo shows a pop sensibility amidst all the
pounding gleeful mayhem.
